Alcohol Energy Drinks Ban
Statement by Governor Kulongoski on Alcohol Energy Drinks Ban

Salem - "Today the Oregon Liquor Control Commission did the right thing to immediately ban the sale of alcoholic energy drinks in Oregon.

"The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has declared these drinks to be unsafe - and I applaud the OLCC for taking the very necessary step of halting access to these dangerous beverages.

Alcohol addiction and abuse has serious health, social and economic consequences on our state, our communities and Oregon families. It is our responsibility to take all actions available to us to help promote the legal, safe and responsible consumption of alcohol- including protecting our youth and working to prevent underage drinking entirely.

"Today's leadership by the OLCC is essential to that mission."
